How to itemise Hilda and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Hilda

Hilda relies heavily on brush control and skirmishing, using Blessing of Wilderness to gain massive shields and constant health regeneration while charging in with Combat Ritual. However, to land full stacks of Wilderness Mark using Art of Hunting and execute targets with Power of Wildness, she must survive prolonged trades at close range. This build solves her need for sustained frontline durability, control reduction, and movement speed. By stacking extra health and defensive passives, Hilda enhances her passive shield strength and True Damage output, allowing her to aggressively invade enemy territory, peel for teammates, and execute high-priority targets without risking instant death.

Build order

  1. 1 Warrior Boots
  2. 2 Thunder Belt
  3. 3 Oracle
  4. 4 Brute Force Breastplate
  5. 5 Twilight Armor
  6. 6 Immortality

Item by item

Warrior Boots provide immediate physical defense and movement speed, enabling Hilda to aggressively control bushes and trade early in the lane. Combined with the movement bonus from Combat Ritual, these boots allow her to stick to enemies while building initial stacks of Wilderness Mark using Art of Hunting. The added defense reduces incoming physical damage during early skirmishes, ensuring she retains her health bar while zoning enemy laners.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Valor: Gain 4 extra Physical Defense for 3s when taking Physical Damage, up to 20.

Thunder Belt is a pivotal item that directly scales off extra health while augmenting Hilda's aggressive engage style. After casting Combat Ritual or Art of Hunting, her next basic attack deals extra True Damage and applies a strong slow. This slow ensures enemies cannot easily flee, allowing her to easily land all three hits of Art of Hunting to maximize Wilderness Mark stacks before unleashing a devastating Power of Wildness ultimate.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Thunderbolt: After casting a skill, the next Basic Attack within 3s deals 50 plus 5% of the hero's extra HP as extra True Damage to the target and enemies around them and slows them by 40%-80% (scales with the hero's extra HP) for 1s (1.5s cooldown).

Oracle

Core

Oracle heavily amplifies Hilda's core survival mechanic, Blessing of Wilderness. By boosting both received shields and health regeneration, stepping into any bush rapidly restores her health pool and provides a substantially larger shield. This empowers her hit-and-run playstyle, allowing her to aggressively weave in and out of brushes during team fights to continuously reapply Wilderness Mark and execute enemies with Power of Wildness while remaining exceptionally durable.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Bless: Received Shield and HP Regen effects are increased by 30%.

Brute Force Breastplate boosts Hilda's mobility and defense whenever she deals damage. Each strike from Art of Hunting grants extra movement speed and adaptive offense, making her even faster when chasing targets alongside Combat Ritual. Additionally, reaching full stacks provides control duration reduction, enabling Hilda to shake off enemy crowd control quickly and execute fleeing targets with Power of Wildness without being interrupted or locked down in group fights.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Brute Force: Each second after dealing damage, gain 6 extra Physical Attack and Magic Power and 2% extra Movement Speed for 4s, up to 6 stacks. Gain 15% extra Control Duration Reduction at full stacks.

Twilight Armor

Late

Twilight Armor protects Hilda against massive single-instance burst damage late in the game when enemy carries scale up. When taking heavy burst from enemy skills or critical strikes, this item mitigates excess damage based on her maximum health. This survivability cushion guarantees that Hilda can survive high burst attempts, allowing her passive Blessing of Wilderness shield to soak initial hits while she retaliates with Power of Wildness.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Twilight: Upon taking more than 800 damage in a single instance, the excess damage beyond that amount is reduced by 300 + 15% of Max HP. This effect has a 5s cooldown.

Immortality

Situational

Immortality gives Hilda a crucial second chance during late-game team fights around the Turtle or Lord. Upon taking lethal damage, she revives with a portion of her maximum health and a temporary shield. This resurrection window buys vital time for Blessing of Wilderness to reset or allows her to immediately cast Combat Ritual to sprint toward the nearest brush, resetting her passive shield and turning lost fights around.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Immortal: Revives 2.5s after death, gaining 16% Max HP and a 220-1200 shield (scales with level) that lasts 3s (210s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

When facing heavy magic damage poke or burst

Prioritize completing Oracle right after your boot upgrade before finishing Thunder Belt. Boosting Oracle early drastically improves the shield and health regeneration from Blessing of Wilderness, allowing Hilda to sustain through heavy magic poke during early skirmishes and maintain lane control against high burst heroes.

When facing physical lane opponents who rely on rapid basic attacks

Rush Warrior Boots immediately and prioritize Brute Force Breastplate after Thunder Belt. The rapid stacking of physical defense and movement speed enables Hilda to stick to physical carries with Combat Ritual while dampening incoming attack damage during extended trades in the lane.

When the enemy team possesses extreme single-instance burst damage late game

Build Twilight Armor earlier, immediately following your core durability items. Mitigating massive single-hit damage prevents Hilda from being bursted down before reaching a bush, ensuring her Blessing of Wilderness passive can activate and shield her long enough to unleash Power of Wildness.

Item recommendations come from the game's own hero data. The explanations are AI-generated from Hilda's ability kit and the items' in-game passives, and are checked automatically against the item list — they never introduce an item the game does not recommend for this hero.
