How to itemise Franco and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Franco

Franco relies entirely on precise positioning and pick-off potential to turn teamfights using Iron Hook and Bloody Hunt. Because Franco lacks innate defensive shields or damage reduction abilities, this build addresses his reliance on health scaling and rapid roaming. Enhancing movement speed allows Franco to traverse lanes quickly, setting up unexpected hooks from the fog of war. Additionally, stacking extra maximum health directly amplifies the physical damage of Fury Shock, allowing him to contribute meaningful area-of-effect damage after dragging targets in. Synergizing item health sustain with his passive Wasteland Force keeps Franco healthy on the map continuously, ensuring constant roaming presence without wasting time returning to base.

Item by item

Rapid Boots- Conceal

Early

Rapid Boots- Conceal provides essential out-of-combat movement speed, enabling Franco to rotate quickly across lanes and secure early hooks. The Conceal active skill hides Franco from vision, allowing him to close the distance on unsuspecting targets to execute an unavoidable point-blank Iron Hook or immediate Bloody Hunt suppression before enemies can react.

In-game passive Active Skill - Conceal: Success

Thunder Belt complements Franco's combo cycle by granting true damage and a heavy slow on basic attacks after casting skills like Fury Shock. Since its bonus effect scales with extra health, it empowers Franco's follow-up strikes after landing Iron Hook, ensuring targets cannot easily walk away while boosting his overall durability.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Thunderbolt: After casting a skill, the next Basic Attack within 3s deals 50 plus 5% of the hero's extra HP as extra True Damage to the target and enemies around them and slows them by 40%-80% (scales with the hero's extra HP) for 1s (1.5s cooldown).

Dominance Ice counters attack speed reliant threats while providing crucial physical defense. Slowing enemy attack speed neutralizes marksmen and fighters who attempt to retaliate after surviving Bloody Hunt. This item allows Franco to stand firm in close-range skirmishes after dragging an opponent into his team with Iron Hook.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Arctic Cold: Reduces the Attack Speed of nearby enemy heroes to 70% of normal.

Oracle

Late

Oracle substantially boosts Franco's passive recovery from Wasteland Force, dramatically increasing his health regeneration when out of combat. This enhanced sustain enables Franco to quickly recover to full health after absorbing damage during engagements, allowing him to resume roaming and fishing for Iron Hook targets without retreating.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Bless: Received Shield and HP Regen effects are increased by 30%.

Cursed Helmet provides steady continuous magic damage to nearby enemies based on Franco's maximum health. Once Franco locks down a priority target with Bloody Hunt, Cursed Helmet burns the target for the full duration of the suppression, adding essential damage to guarantee the elimination.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Burning Soul: Deals Magic Damage equal to 0.6% of the hero's Max HP per second to nearby enemies. This damage is increased by 140% to 350% against creeps and minions (scales with level).

Guardian Helmet

Situational

Guardian Helmet synergizes perfectly with Wasteland Force, offering massive health regeneration outside of combat. When combined with Franco's passive, it fully heals him within seconds between skirmishes, ensuring he maintains relentless map pressure and constant readiness to initiate with Iron Hook.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Recovery: Regenerates 2.5% Max HP per second (reduced to 0.5% Max HP per second over 5s after taking damage).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

When facing high basic attack damage enemies

Prioritize Dominance Ice right after your boots to slow down enemy attack speed and bolster physical defenses early. This neutralizes fast-attacking marksmen who try to turn on Franco after he executes Bloody Hunt or pulls them with Iron Hook.

When needing aggressive initiation and map pressure

Rush Thunder Belt immediately after Rapid Boots- Conceal. The added slow and extra true damage empower Fury Shock combos, helping your allies secure early eliminations whenever you land Iron Hook.

When enduring heavy poke and frequent trades

Build Oracle earlier in your progression to amplify the health regeneration provided by Wasteland Force. This minimizes downtime, allowing Franco to stay on the map longer to hunt for hooks.
