How to itemise Brody and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Brody

Brody functions differently from standard marksmen due to his Abyss Corrosion passive, which penalizes attack speed bonuses but grants heavy raw Physical Attack scaling and hit-and-run mobility. Instead of relying on rapid basic attacks, Brody relies on applying Abyss Mark stacks quickly through Abyss Impact and Corrosive Strike before finishing off targets with Torn-Apart Memory. Because his damage scales massively with physical offense and lost health execution, this build prioritizes high flat damage and physical penetration early, followed by durability to keep him active in teamfights. Defensive hybrid options ensure he stays alive while channeling his abilities safely.

Swift Boots

Early

Swift Boots compensate for Brody sluggish basic attack animation caused by Abyss Corrosion. The additional movement speed works in tandem with the mobility boost from his passive and Corrosive Strike, allowing him to kite enemies efficiently while charging up his heavy basic attacks. Completing boots early lets Brody position swiftly in the Gold Lane to land Abyss Impact through minion waves and maintain optimal range against aggressive opponents.

Rushing Blade of Despair maximizes Brody immense Physical Attack scaling on Abyss Corrosion and Abyss Impact early in the match. The passive bonus damage against low-health targets amplifies the finishing capability of Torn-Apart Memory, turning his ultimate into a guaranteed lethal execute. Once completed, Brody burst damage spikes dramatically, enabling him to eliminate squishy lane opponents or secure early Turtle fights with a single combo.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Despair: Dealing damage to non-Minion enemies below 50% HP increases Physical Attack by 25% for 2s (takes effect before the damage is dealt).

Endless Battle synergizes with Brody combo rotation of weaving skills between basic attacks. After stunning an enemy with Corrosive Strike or slowing them with Abyss Impact, his next basic attack triggers True Damage, bypassing high physical defense. The additional movement speed keeps him nimble during kite maneuvers, while the lifesteal provides sustainability in lane, ensuring he can safely stack Abyss Mark without needing to constantly recall.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Divine Justice: After casting a skill, the next Basic Attack within 3s deals 60% Physical Attack as extra True Damage (1.5s cooldown).

As enemies build armor in the mid game, Malefic Roar ensures Brody heavy physical attacks and skills maintain their lethal burst. This item enhances the physical penetration of both Abyss Impact and Torn-Apart Memory against tanky targets. With armor reduction applied to his burst, Brody can effectively melt frontline tanks who attempt to body-block his skills or isolate him before he detonates his Abyss Mark stacks.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Armor Buster: When attacking an enemy, gains 0.125% extra Physical Penetration for each point of the enemy's Physical Defense, capped at 40%.

Brute Force Breastplate grants Brody necessary durability while enhancing his core gameplay loop. Each time he deals damage with Abyss Impact or basic attacks, he gains extra Physical Attack and Movement Speed, reinforcing the hit-and-run style enabled by Abyss Corrosion. The control duration reduction provided at maximum stacks helps Brody break free from enemy crowd control, allowing him to reactivate Corrosive Strike and escape dangerous dives.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Brute Force: Each second after dealing damage, gain 6 extra Physical Attack and Magic Power and 2% extra Movement Speed for 4s, up to 6 stacks. Gain 15% extra Control Duration Reduction at full stacks.

In the late game, Brody becomes a primary target for enemy assassins due to his high burst potential. Immortality provides a safety net that allows him to play aggressively during crucial Lord contests. If Brody gets eliminated before casting Torn-Apart Memory, the revival gives him a second chance to cast his ultimate on marked enemies, completely turning the tide of a late game teamfight in his team favor.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Immortal: Revives 2.5s after death, gaining 16% Max HP and a 220-1200 shield (scales with level) that lasts 3s (210s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against high armor tanks and early physical defense stackers

Prioritize Malefic Roar right after Blade of Despair instead of completing utility items first. This ensures that the burst from Abyss Impact and Torn-Apart Memory penetrates high physical defense early, allowing Brody to maintain kill pressure against tanky frontliners during mid-game objective fights around the Turtle.

Against aggressive dive compositions and high crowd control threats

Build Brute Force Breastplate earlier in the build order, right after your core damage item. The extra movement speed and control duration reduction complement the stun and disengage from Corrosive Strike, helping Brody survive heavy initiate tactics while maintaining his Abyss Mark stacking rotation without being instantly locked down.

Item recommendations come from the game's own hero data. The explanations are AI-generated from Brody's ability kit and the items' in-game passives, and are checked automatically against the item list — they never introduce an item the game does not recommend for this hero.
