How to itemise Baxia and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Baxia

Baxia excels as a high-mobility anti-sustain initiator who relies on continuously diving into fights and applying his Baxia Mark passive to suppress enemy healing and shields. However, his relentless playstyle using Baxia-Shield Unity and Tortoise's Puissance puts him in constant jeopardy, requiring massive durability and health scaling to survive. This build focuses on maximizing Baxia's survivability and continuous damage output. By building high Max HP items like Cursed Helmet and Guardian Helmet, Baxia amplifies his area damage and gains out-of-combat regeneration, allowing him to stay on the map without losing momentum. Coupled with key defense items, he becomes an unkillable frontline disrupter.

Tough Boots - Encourage

Early

Tough Boots - Encourage gives Baxia early movement speed to maximize his rotations alongside Baxia-Shield Unity. The reduced crowd control duration ensures Baxia is not interrupted while setting up ambushes or rolling into team fights. Additionally, the Encourage active effect provides team buffs that reward his proactive roaming style, allowing him to bolster his allies while actively invading enemy jungle camps or contesting early Turtle objectives.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Passive - Encourage: Success

Cursed Helmet scales directly off Baxia's Max HP, dealing continuous Magic Damage to nearby enemies. This complements Tortoise's Puissance, creating double area-of-effect damage trails as Baxia charges through enemy ranks. The extra health enhances his survivability, allowing him to trigger Baxia Mark repeatedly in prolonged engagements. Finishing this item drastically improves his jungle clear and minion wave management, turning him into a constant roaming threat across the map.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Burning Soul: Deals Magic Damage equal to 0.6% of the hero's Max HP per second to nearby enemies. This damage is increased by 140% to 350% against creeps and minions (scales with level).

Dominance Ice provides critical Physical Defense and slows nearby enemy attack speeds. While Baxia Mark already cuts enemy healing and shields when skills land, Dominance Ice adds a passive aura that hampers fast-attacking physical threats even when skills are on cooldown. This item allows Baxia to confidently dive heavy physical lineups using Baxia-Shield Unity, crippling enemy marksmen and life-steal reliant fighters in the middle of chaotic team fights.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Arctic Cold: Reduces the Attack Speed of nearby enemy heroes to 70% of normal.

Athena's Shield covers Baxia's vulnerability to burst Magic Damage. When initiating with Tortoise's Puissance, enemy mages often try to burst him down before his damage reduction ramps up. The instant Magic Damage Reduction shield mitigates burst combos, allowing Baxia to survive the initial clash. Once finished, Baxia can freely leap into enemy backlines with Baxia-Shield Unity without fearing immediate elimination by high-burst magic abilities.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Shield: Upon taking Magic Damage, gains 25% Magic Damage Reduction for 3s (applied before taking damage). Regains this effect 5s after leaving combat.

Guardian Helmet provides a massive Max HP pool that significantly boosts the damage of Cursed Helmet and enhances Baxia's overall bulk. Its passive HP regeneration allows Baxia to sustain through long skirmishes and recover quickly after engagements without returning to base. This keeps him active on the map to continuously apply pressure, contest the Lord, and spam Shield of Spirit during extended siege scenarios.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Recovery: Regenerates 2.5% Max HP per second (reduced to 0.5% Max HP per second over 5s after taking damage).

Immortality serves as Baxia's ultimate safety net during late-game dives. As the main initiator using Tortoise's Puissance and Baxia-Shield Unity, Baxia often ends up deep inside enemy territory. The resurrection effect gives him a second life, allowing his team time to follow up on his crowd control. Upon reviving, he can quickly cast Shield of Spirit to slow escaping foes or reset his defensive positioning.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Immortal: Revives 2.5s after death, gaining 16% Max HP and a 220-1200 shield (scales with level) that lasts 3s (210s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against heavy magic burst compositions

Prioritize building Athena's Shield earlier right after Cursed Helmet before completing Dominance Ice. This prevents high magic burst heroes from chunking your health pool during early initiations with Baxia-Shield Unity, ensuring you survive long enough to activate Tortoise's Puissance and trigger your Baxia Mark passive across the entire enemy team.

When your team lacks sustain during extended map pressure

Rush Guardian Helmet immediately after your core defense item to maximize your HP pool and out-of-combat regeneration. This allows you to constantly harass with Shield of Spirit, take objective damage at the Turtle or Lord, and quickly recover health between skirmishes without needing to recall, maintaining relentless pressure across all lanes.

Item recommendations come from the game's own hero data. The explanations are AI-generated from Baxia's ability kit and the items' in-game passives, and are checked automatically against the item list — they never introduce an item the game does not recommend for this hero.
